About Maypop Grove

The Why

Maypop Grove's start in 2019, (in the "before times") was based on a vision of a welcoming and needed resource for change leaders to renew and recharge, focused on project management and consulting professional support and education.

Since then, on our way into 2024, the mission has shifted to enabling dignity in effective collaboration, starting from individual stakeholders and working outward to tackle challenges that affect us all.

How?  By doing the work to anchor on models we can all trust and then integrating the wide ranges of disciplines and professions into actually useful and nimble toolkits that we can use to get the job DONE.

(Sounds sassy?  Read more on the spark for the shift here.)

Maypop Grove's values are informed by three main quotes:

“There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.”

—Edith Wharton "Vesalius in Zante. (1564)" - 1902

“Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.”

—William Morris “The Beauty of Life” - 1880

"I still believe, in spite of everything, that people are really good at heart."

- Anne Frank, diary, 1944

Big why anchor:

We are grateful to the United Nations for their continuing work to bring us together for common purpose.   We're indexing to the Inner Development Goals as part of that conversation.  Learn more here.

And why "Maypop Grove"?

The Maypop passionflower is an amazing and intrepid plant, giving us flowers, vines, and fruit, at once familiarly trustworthy and strangely alien in its beauty while it plays its part in the ecosystem.  It reminds us to expect more and still be grateful.   A grove of trees gives us shade and protection, shelter and respite, and a connection to what's around us, reminding us to be a part of a renewing cycle.

Welcome!
