As generally applied, a PDU is a professional development unit, or one contact hour of professional development activity. A CEU is a continuing education unit, representing the value of the activity.
One professional development activity hour = 1 PDU
1 CEU = 10 PDUs
While not all change leadership discipline-related certifications require renewal through continuing education, some do and a fundamental part of career maintenance is to keep your credentials up to date. It's also good to track your own development trajectory. Each organization further defines how PDUs are earned and CEUs are counted, and some employers have similar professional development requirements.
